Urban Plus is owned by Hutt City Council and was established in July 2007. Urban Plus operates as a
Council Controlled Organisation (CCO) under the Local Government Act 2002.
Urban Plus is a multi-faceted property management and development company, pre-dominantly focussed towards social and public housing outcomes along the housing continuum. Urban Plus owns and manages a rental housing portfolio of approximately 200 units within various areas of Lower Hutt, aimed at providing housing for the low income elderly; whereby it charges below-market rents.
Urban Plus procures and develops land / property with multiple outcomes in mind, such as:
• Developing and releasing discounted housing for the first home buyer and owner-occupier target markets,
• Working with our partners to develop and supply new Community Housing
• Growing its own housing stock to provide more options in the long term rental space.
Urban Plus looks to align with providers who deliver progressive home ownership and long term rental outcomes. In terms of partnering with Community Housing providers such as Hutt City Council, Dwell, Kahungunu Whanau Services,
Te Kahui Rangitahi o Te Atiawa. Urban Plus actively participates in the market to procure land for development with the intention to grow in all aspects of it's operations in up and coming years.

Independent Director Cameron is the Chief Executive of Gibson Sheat, a leading Hutt City law firm. He is also a director of entities in both the commercial and not-for-profit sectors. One of those roles has involved meeting the long-term housing and community space needs of those with different abilities. Through this work he has learnt the immense benefit people gain from having a place to call their home. It is this Kaupapa that drives Cameron in this role. He is a strong advocate for the provision of “homes” to people less well served by the typical housing providers. |
